Brief Description:
This is a position based in Nairobi. The holder will be actively involved in planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of the education program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    Under the direction and supervision of the Nairobi project director, take responsibility for the management of the education program.

The Key Responsibility Areas:
    Analyzing student’s applications, short list candidates and conduct interviews
    Ensuring students have all the required items (school fees, stationeries, text books and pocket money) at the beginning of every term/semester or as required by the institutions of learning and as the scholarship support guidelines.
    Receive and analyze all students’ requirement list. Maintain an updated inventory list of all materials (boarding and academic) purchased and distributed to students.
    Keeping updated list of JRS Nairobi Education beneficiaries-secondary level.
    Carrying out meetings with individual students and more so with students who are not performing well in school and also those involved in any indiscipline cases.
    Analyze students performance, termly, and offer guidance and counseling as appropriate
    Organise and hold meetings with students and parents/guardian.
    Conduct field visits/ make contact to institutions of learning to make follow –up for emerging issues.
    Organizing for community services / workshops/ activities for the JRS Nairobi Education programme students during school holidays.
    Attend to refugees with education related issues at the JRS reception.
    Work in close Collaboration with the other staff in the education program.
    Participate in any other programme activity as agreed with the project Director or the country director.

Skills and Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Education Arts and at least two years practical working experience preferably in project management, together with relevant professional experience.
    Experience in managing people/teams
    Ability to build effective partnership and collaborate with other team members.
    Ability to work sensitively with refugee population of different ethnic background and/or demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
    Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) and Good knowledge of MS word/Office.
    Flexibility, resilience to stress and ability to adapt to changing working environments
    Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills and monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
    Patience, perseverance, proactive, self motivated and ability to work in stressful environment

Starting Salary: Gross Kshs. 45,150.00

 Detailed job responsibilities are as follows:
Grant Management -bilaterals (plus some large private foundations)
• Review, interpret and explain all aspects of award documents (i.e. grants and cooperative agreements).
• Ensure effective, transparent use of resources in compliance with One Acre Fund and donor policies and procedures.
• Manage budget within approved spending levels and assist in the development of cash flow projections and spending plans.
• Ensure all program funds are spent in accordance with donor rules and regulations including cost-share funds.
• Ensure all One Acre Fund administration, logistical, human resources and financial procedures are followed in relation to grant rules and regulations.
• Develop financial reports as required by the donor.
• Develop and maintain a donor filing system (reporting, invoices, etc.).
• Manage award audits.
Grant management - most foundations
• Summarize key elements (e.g.., reporting deadlines, restrictions, payment and reporting schedules) of grant agreements, and enter data into online grants management system
• Carefully monitor actual versus scheduled payments and highlight discrepancies
• Act as liaison to donors, answering questions, accommodating site visits, etc.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting -bilaterals and foundations
• Build deep knowledge of One Acre Fund operations, and build relationships with key staff in the field, to ensure accurate and timely gathering of data relevant to each award.
• Document evidence of project activities, outcomes, and lessons learned in accordance with donor requirements, leveraging where possible existing M&E data and narratives from the field.
• Write reports for donors, using required templates, to report on progress against stated activity milestones, project outcomes, project budget, etc.
Representation & Diplomacy - bilaterals
• Effectively manage the partnership between the donor and One Acre Fund.
• Develop and nurture culturally sensitive internal and external relationships and networks to ensure optimum communication and program success.
• Participate regularly in a variety of external forums/workshops/conference/sector coordination meetings to proactively engage and share best practices and findings of projects with the broader government and international development communities.
