looking for a chief Accountant to join their team.  The company has beautiful offices, outstanding

Position Description: Chief Accountant
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
· Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as
general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. 
· Analyses financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares
balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and
interpret current and projected company financial position management. 
· Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate
individual transactions prior to settlement. 
· Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting
systems and accounting control procedures. 
· Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and
expenditures. 
· Provides data and analysis for internal and external audits, as well as documentation
substantiating adherence to control policies and NBAA. 
· Updates standard costs annually and as needed for new and changed parts. 
· Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's
accounting operation. 
· Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports. 
· Collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases,
inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained and records results. 
· Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or
services provided, to determine effects on costs. 
· Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic report comparing
standard costs to actual production costs. 
· Records cost information for use in controlling expenditures. 
· Analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports. 
· Compiles cost information to be used in operating budget preparation. 
· Makes estimates of new and proposed product or service costs. 
· Recommends cost efficiencies in new product layouts. 
· Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices
and profitability of products or services. 
· Manages and performs month end activities for Tanzania and Europe entities,
including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, reserves, bank reconciliations
and reporting requirements.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS 
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

· Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in Cost Accounting and as a Senior
Accountant (or equivalent), preferably in the manufacturing sector. 
· Undergraduate degree in Accounting required, CPA or CMA is preferred. 
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and concepts in order to perform duties and
responsibilities. 
· Strong knowledge of variance analysis in financial statements.

· Ability to work independently and as a team in resolving specific financial issues,
manage multiple tasks to completion and meet deadlines. 
· Interpersonal skills necessary to enable effective interaction with team member at
all levels of organization, vendors and  internal  customers -
requiring  reasonable  tact, discretion, consistency,  self-expression  and
professionalism.  
· Must have the ability to handle confidential information regarding the company,
vendors and customers and be able to maintain that confidentiality in a professional
manner. 
· Must be accurate in working with numbers, speedy in data entry and willing to help
in other areas of accounting department. 
· Must have the ability and desire to work with people in a team environment, be
innovative and willing to participate in internal programs, communications, work
simplification, cost-reduction, quality improvement and Lean manufacturing.

The performance of this position will require occasional exposure to a manufacturing
environment in order to be able to screen appropriate candidates. Occasional exposure to
typical manufacturing areas may be required and will require the use of personal protective
equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection. Employees must be
mobile enough to navigate the manufacturing shop floor safely including walking and
standing for up to four hours at a time. Office lighting will be provided. 
The work environment will include their own workstation or cubicle space equipped with a
telephone, headset and computer. 
 
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 
Note: This is not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties and responsibilities may be
requested and required. Early evening, night hours, weekend or holiday work may also be
necessary. Overtime may be required. Attendance is critical to the success of this position.
