Info About the Job:
Edge Growth is seeking an Intern - Social Venture Capital and Incubation. S/he will be responsible for developing breakthrough tools for evaluating new businesses.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop breakthrough tools for assisting growth entrepreneurs to scale their businesses;
Screen applications for venture funding and incubator applicants;
Work on specific projects to assist venture entrepreneurs, especially (but not only) growth strategy and market entry strategy;
Project manage incubation programs;
Other ad-hoc strategic projects.
Minimum Skills And Qualifications:
About 1-3 years of work experience;
VC, private equity, strategy consulting, or banking (M&A/leveraged finance) backgrounds are best fit;
Experience with SMEs would be highly appreciated;
Understand challenges, constraints, and opportunities faced by entrepreneurs in the SA environment;
Involved in a brand new and innovative incubation program;
Practice conducting due diligence of small businesses, based on Bain & Co’s strategic due diligence methodology;
Experience of working in a close-knit, open team of individuals with a collective passion for honesty, justice, and social relief;
Exceptional business analytics and quantitative skills;
Ideally, a strong grounding in classical and venture growth strategy;
Ideally, some personal experience as an entrepreneur;
Good financial modelling skills;
Strong intellect and focus;
Outstanding communication skills, ability to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly, succinctly, and logically;
Excellent writing and presentation skills;
Ability to operate with limited supervision.
