SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is an affiliate of SOS CV- International whose mission is to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities. In Kenya, the organisation runs five Children’s Villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Meru and Kisumu. SOS Children’s Villages Kenya also runs education and health institutions and works with local communities through Families Strengthening Programs.

Position Summary

SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is seeking a National ICT4D Coordinator on a One year contract with the overall objective of strengthening the effective use of information technologies in programme development areas, with main focus on Education.

The ICT4D Coordinator will be responsible of the design, coordination, implementation support and Monitoring and Evaluation of the ICT for Development (ICT4D) projects in the different locations where SOS Kenya has its programmes, in coordination with ICT and technical programme staff in each programme unit.

Duties & Responsibilities


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

    Lead SOS Kenya in the incorporation of ICT within the various programmes to enhance quality of care, education, health and community empowerment;
    Responsible of the formulation of ICT4D projects to ensure the correct conjunction between the programme and technology perspective;
    Implement Project Management mechanisms and tools to ensure programme schedule and objectives are met;
    In charge of the reporting of ICT4D project activities and oversees implementation, budgeting monitoring and evaluation;
    Screens and analyze the emerging ICT4D funding opportunities in Kenya;
    Accountable for developing and maintaining effective partnerships with in-country technology and media organizations;
    Act as main counterpart for donors on National ICT4D projects, as well as with the partners and other stakeholders;
    Participate actively and contribute in various ICT4D internal networks and external forums and promote knowledge sharing from them.
    Work closely with various stakeholders, in the National and Regional Offices, from ICT, Programme and Finance departments on project planning, solution design, budgeting and monitoring.

Profile & competences

    Degree on Social Science or Development area, with knowledge on Computer Science integrated in programme development. Or Degree in Computer Science with a practical experience on implementation of technology in programme areas.
    1-3 Years of demonstrable expertise and vision on ICT4D area and on the use of ICT for development purposes.
    Project management experience including project planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
    Ability to establish strong working relationships with local and international donors, and other stakeholders.
    Ability to professionally communicate and provide writing reporting in English to meet donors’ requirements.
    Ability to do International Travels within the region and outside Africa.
    Ability to virtually work in a multicultural environment and to handle change.
    Proactive and Punctual is a must
